FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
MnRA and Go Buy Local partner to combine customer discounts and non-profit donations to strengthen Minnesota’s communities.
St. Paul, Minnesota – September 9, 2015 – The Minnesota Retailers Association (MnRA) is proud to announce the addition of Go Buy Local to its RetailPlus+ network of partners providing streamlined value-added services to retailers. Go Buy Local is a Minnesota-based customer loyalty and attraction program that supports community non-profits when purchases are made from retailers.
Through the relationship, MnRA offers the Go Buy Local platform to retailers across the state, including an opportunity for retailers to access cutting-edge technology when creating promotional offers for customers. In addition, a powerful part of the program enables retailers to target a donation toward any qualified non-profit organization of their customer’s choosing--including local schools and causes--when their customers use an offer.
“This unique system combining discounts for customers and donations to non-profits is something today’s cost-conscious and community-connected consumers want from their retail buying experience. And it’s all built to modern standards, including a free mobile app for shoppers and streamlined administration for retailers,” said MnRA President Bruce Nustad in announcing the partnership. “Go Buy Local is a great offering that builds business for local retailers while directly supporting communities. It’s a win for consumers, a win for non-profits, and a win for retailers. MnRA is proud to partner with Go Buy Local on this project, and we are excited to promote this option to retailers.”
Unlike other systems offering incentives to shop, Go Buy Local allows a retailer full control over their discount and the non-profit donation amount. Once a customer makes a purchase, the system handles the customer-directed non-profit donation, including sending 100 percent of the funds to the non-profit. The system is transparent as consumers can track the donations resulting from their purchases, non-profits can see funds headed their way, and since donations are directly tied to purchases, retailers can immediately see the benefit of their offer.
“We exist to strengthen local communities—from local jobs, to community schools and nonprofits, to opportunities for consumers. Go Buy Local, in partnership with the Minnesota Retailers Association, will help cities and towns across Minnesota thrive and prosper. It’s happening now, and I can’t wait to see the continued impact resulting from this new relationship,” said Go Buy Local’s President and CEO William Veeneman.
Go Buy Local currently has 1,000 local businesses supporting non-profits in 25 communities, and can be explored at www.gobuylocal.com.
Since 1952 the Minnesota Retailers Association (MnRA) has been the champion for retail business in Minnesota, both large and small.
